Whiskey Rebellion Tax. A small word, but a major impact on society. About 20 years after the revolutionary war had begun, President George Washington was faced with a mini revolution of his own. This time from his own citizens. Similar to the previous war, the core problem revolved around taxes.
Sasha 's Bloc Band is Alex Gershmann and features guest vocalists, Jane Monheit and Alvin Chea. Gershmann brings the airy feel of big band and jazz with splash of R&B that puts you right in the groove. This single, Runaway Blues is a perfect blend that accomplishes what this band set out to do, make you lose yourself in the art of music. It starts with dreamy vocals that sounds like a church choir. Then the lead singer smoothly transitions in like James Brown sliding in on stage to his mic.
Both these rebellions took place because the government was over taxing the poor people. The farmers had no other choice but to start a rebellion or end up in prison. Most of the farmers didn't just choose not to pay the taxes they couldn't afford to. They weren't trying to stick it to the government they didn't have a choice it was either fight or loose their family. In Shays rebellion the poor farmers charge the courthouse trying to take a stance against the high taxes.
The Scotch-Irish people were one of the numerous immigrants who looked for shelter and alleviation in America. The Scotch-Irish appeared in the mid-seventeenth century when the English government, on edge to dominate Ireland, removed Lowland Scots as pilgrims to the province of Ulster in northern Ireland. For around a century the Scotch-Irish squeezed out a living in Ireland, yet in the early piece of the eighteenth century their monetary condition endured a progression of grievous inversions. As a result, a flood of maybe five thousand Scotch-Irish moved to America in 1717. Before the end of the eighteenth century, four more influxes of Scotch-Irish withdrew Ireland for America and a few hundred thousand Ulstermen settled in about each area of the English provinces.
“A group of people decided they’d had enough. They took a stand and in doing so began the New York Gay Activist movement. Which eventually spread to other parts of the country…. I very much doubt they know the impact of their decision to stand firm that day in 1969, but it’s because of those people that gay rights exist in this country today,” Lynley Wayne, LGBT Writer. Everyday people are trying to stand up for themselves.
Shay’s Rebellion was a series of protest in 1786 and 1787 by farmers for tax collections and discernment of debt. After the rebellion, people started to question the power of the national government; they realized they needed a stronger national government
To begin to unravel the controversy that lies within the flag, one must understand the history. This flag was developed when the thirteen colonies were trying to obtain freedom from the British during the American Revolution. Benjamin Franklin can be connected with this flag because in 1751, he wrote a commentary to “thank the Brits for their policy of sending convicted felons to America [and] American colonists should send rattlesnakes to England” (“Rattlesnake Flags & Early American Snake Symbolism”). In 1775, a snake symbol arose in areas all over the colonies. It is unknown who exactly started the use of the rattlesnake however, it is known when it was used in a combat.
Amendments Produce Rebellions. Another Civil War? Imagine this, the Civil War has been won by the Union, but the South is still having rebellions of their own. When the 15th amendment rolls around they take it to the next level with literacy tests, poll taxes, violence, fraud, and intimidation. So should the South have seceded from the North once again?
The role of religion had a major part in the lead up to the revolt. It was the conflict of religion that caused the revolt to happen with the conversion to Catholicism, the injustices were done to the Puebloan people, and rebirth of the Pueblo people had. There was a lot that made this revolt. With the Spanish coming over they brought many things with them.
Around the time of these protests Americans were beginning to realize their rights as citizens and what their ideal government looked like. Settlers of the backcountry were rebelling against the federalists, attempting to acquire more representation in the government. The people of the backcountry were becoming more oppressed as Alexander Hamilton began to attempt to improve America’s economy with manufacturing and revenue taxes. The backcountry settlers organized violent protests, three of these rebellions being Shays’ Rebellion, Whiskey Rebellion, and March of the Paxton Boys.
The Upper Canada Rebellion was, along with the Patriotes Rebellion in Lower Canada, a rebellion against the colonial government in 1837 and 1838. Collectively they are also known as the Rebellion of 1837, while the Patriotes Rebellion is also called the Lower Canada Rebellion. The government of Upper Canada was run by wealthy landowners known as the Family Compact. The British had set up the colonial government hoping to inspire the former American colonies to abandon their democratic form of government, but instead American democracy spread to Canada as well, leaving many dissatisfied with the Family Compact.
This rebellion helped save many lives by stopping the capital’s plans for the Hunger Games. Katniss first went against the capital by volunteering for the Hunger Games, in place of her sister, and winning, which sparked a rebellion later on. She next went against the capital when they captured Peeta, fighting to get him back, becoming the namesake Mockingjay. Some other famous

Holidays are something everyone celebrates, yet certain ones get more recognition than others. A considerable amount of people have at least heard of St. Patrick 's Day, but few can say that they go much further than pinching those who don 't wear green. In my family, however, St. Patrick 's Day is one of the few traditions we do actually celebrate. It is an event I look forward to every year and includes one of my favorite meals. St. Patrick 's Day was originally a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland, Patrick.
