White Privilege and Male Privilege are one in the same if you really look at it and compare the two. In the article that we were advise to assess it gives different opinions and thoughts. But I am going to give my thoughts and views being and African American Women in Southwest Louisiana. Where racism and sexism still exists more so racism than anything.
I believe that all races have privileges not only the white race; unfortunately, the white race has strongly been criticized for their privilege, due to their race being the majority. I do believe in white privilege. As a result of white privilege, society views white people as high classed citizens; conversely, the black race is viewed as “the bottom of the food chain.”
As an African American woman working in law enforcement, I have experience white and male privilege. Just because I have a badge doesn’t mean i am exempt from the everyday drama of this fine world we live in. On several …show more content…

I deal with male privilege, on a daily basis from the public as well as other people in the law enforcement. On many occasions officers from other agencies overlook my presence by disregarding me and will only speak and shake hands with both African American and White American Male co-workers. In law enforcement men typically see women as the inferior gender that needs to be protected and not to protect others. Which doesn’t make my job any easier when I consistently have to prove myself on a daily basis and also adhere to the oath that I took to protect and serve. Men are automatically “given the benefit of doubt”; on the other hand, women have to prove that they are good enough to stand with the men. Women can have more education more experience and flat out right more qualified then the man. And yet that does not matter. The world we live in now should be equal no matter
