It was weird listening to an irrational and unreasonable story being told in rational and logical manor. The way Barry Keenan spoke about the kidnapping, it felt he was making a business plan rather than planning a kidnapping. Even though his mind was altered due to alcohol and painkillers, Keenan was very methodical in his planning. He even calculated and exact amount that was need and when Sinatra offered more, Keenan tried to talk him down to the preplanned amount. The reasoning for this being that he wanted to pay it back.
Although he committed a crime rather than fraud, Barry Keenan encompassed all three points of the fraud triangle. He experienced pressure from his recent large financial loss. He was not making money the legal way but he need money to make real estate investments. Secondly he had opportunity, he knew the Sinatra girl from high school and had been over to the house before. Everybody has their different arguments for or against it. However, this interview brings up a side that I have rarely heard spoken about. That is, everyone discusses what immigrants take from America, whether it be jobs or hospitals, but few people discuss what they offer.
