This summer I read Looking for Alaska by John Green and it made me realize more about people and their feelings and secrets. Miles Halter also known as Pudge is the main character. In the beginning he is at school but he seems to not have a lot of friends. So Pudge plans on going to Culver Creek and starting over. When he goes to Culver Creek he imagines what his first conversation will be and people 's first impression. But with his roommate Chip Martin who’s nickname is The Colonel his first impression wasn’t to great. The first time they met is when Pudge was coming out of the bathroom in his towel after his shower and Chip was moving in. Miles was given the nickname Pudge by Colonel because he was so skinny. I can relate my sister to Alaska. My sister has this sweet side towards some people but then to others she is a witch. She gives them so much attitude and makes them feel uncomfortable. I am like Colonel or Pudge because my sister will treat me nice but then out of nowhere be so mean and rude just like Alaska. You know when she is like this it either is because she is hungry, tired, or didn’t get her way. My sister always makes a face or looks at someone a certain way when she is cranky. “She pulled away from me and gave me the Look of Doom that would have made an Eagle proud…”(95). She pushes her eyebrows down and scrunches her nose a little bit. In Looking for Alaska every reader can at least relate to one character. The book has a wide range of personalities. This book shows readers how much friends are really like you seconde family. When I was reading the novel I could see it as me and my friends. Anyone can see themselves as the characters at one point. I related to the novel with more than one situation in my life. I consider my friends my other family and this novel really shows how much friends mean to each other. Especially when people are at boarding schools and college they are away from their family and the closest thing they have it their friends. LOoking for ALaska put things in a new perspective for me and I am glad I had a chance to read this book and connect
