Macbeth is a play about a soldier that meets supernatural forces (witches) that tell him be will become a very important person. Macbeth started out coming back from a battle and is announced as the thane of glamis, he is called this because he was second in command and gained the rank when the old thain died. He meets the king who tells him this then goes home with Banquo but formally meets the three witches.
