On December 26th, 1996 the police were called to the Ramsey residence for the alleged kidnapping of JonBenet Ramsey. Among many things within the case the ransom note, later to be confirmed to have been, torn out from Patsy Ramsey, JonBenet's mom’s, notebook resulted in many officials questioning the authenticity of the note.

At 5:15 am on the day JonBenet was found dead, her mother Patsy found a 2.5 page long, handwritten ransom note. Immediately after the Ransom note was discovered the Ramseys themselves were under suspicion.

On December 26th,1996, JonBenet's mother Patsy Ramsey claimed to have found a handwritten 2.5 page ransom note on their stairs. The ransom note also demanded $118,000 for JonBenet to have a safe return, otherwise they claimed JonBenet would be “beheaded”. The …show more content…

While it was confirmed Patsy’s husband John did not compose the note, Patsy was labeled as “inconclusive”.

Many things within the ransom note are specific such as, “We are a group of individuals that represent a small foreign faction.” Normally kidnappers don’t give out specific information in a ransom note, as this could aid the police within their investigation and possibly lead to them finding out who commited the crime.

About six-eight hours after initially being called to the Ramsey household JonBenet's body was discovered by John Ramsey and his friend in the basement of JonBenet’s home. Unfortunately for the police, they had been handling the case like a kidnapping, not a murder, they didn’t search nor close off the house.
