Timothy Egan’s chronically The Big Burn was a good book. The text discloses event from one of America’s greatest president’s, Theodore Roosevelt’s life. The Name of the book “The big Burn” came from the dreadful account of a forest fire in 1910. His chronicle consists of heroes and a lot of characters. In many cases I felt I was reading a super hero book or even a thriller. It has its faults, but overall it was a book I would recommend to tell the story of this horrific forest fire.
I was not satisfied with the character in the account; they did not have enough character background to make the reader really feel for them. The characters did not connect to the reader on an emotional level I believe. For example Roosevelt and Taft are extremely narrowed mined and bland to me. He Force themes on to the reader much to frequently as well. The whole protagonist vs. antagonist or Good vs. Evil theme is thought the entire book. Egan himself is a little ignorant on the progressive era, and he need to take a little bit more time on his character development. The good …show more content…

He talks about winds that wreak havoc amongst the forests. Palouser then Hits as well striking firer to 3 million acres. I like Egan’s work he uses to describe the wind and a “a battering ram of forced air”. He then begins tell the most thrilling part of the story the fires that take place. He gives epic imagery and diction to describe the events to which are happening to the Little G.P.s. He describes this historical event as if it was straight out of a horror or action movie. It really draws in the reader and does not let go. The picture Egan paints is so good, that at time it feel as if you’re there with the Little G.P.s, trying to make a task force out of scraps.
