America dropping nuclear bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki may have ended the war, but there are still effects to this day. On August 6th, 1945, in Hiroshima the bomb killed approximately 80,000 Japanese people. Three days later, another bomb in Nagasaki killed about 90,000. The Nuremberg Trials decided who should be blamed: America or Japan. Japan was out of line of starting the war with America and bringing them into something that they were not a part of. On the other hand, America should be at fault for the nuclear bombs because they killed thousands of innocent people. America did not begin. We kept to ourselves before Japan, traveling all the way across the Pacific Ocean, surprise attacked us and dropped B-29’s on our naval bases. They destroyed our whole port leaving us nothing with which to defend ourselves. Many marines were waiting to get home to their homes to the families they have not seen in months. According to the data,”the total number of military personnel killed was 2,335, including 2,008 navy personnel, 109 marines, and 218 army. Added to this were 68 civilians, making the total 2,403 people dead” (Pearl Harbor Visitors Bureau). Many people died in a war that they were never a part of. This started the rivalry. Ignorantly, Japan passed on the America’s threats to bomb them just to keep their honor and fight for their country. The United States just made the bombs just to end the war even if it meant that prices had to be paid. The quote “the USA was more interested in a quick and easy end to the war than causing untold suffering” explains that the US wanted the war to be done.
