In the story Romeo and Juliet By William Shakespeare, a lot of characters could be responsible for the demise of Romeo and Juliet. Could it have been Tybalt, the nurse, or maybe even lord capulet? Well, the character who really got them killed is Romeo himself. Romeo got them killed by doing many things that were carefree, selfish, and straight-up dumb. He was not the hero that he seems to be and here are a couple of reasons why Romeo got himself and Juliet killed. One reason that Romeo is to blame for their deaths is that he is very impulsive. Throughout the story, Romeo is seen being very quick to act and not to think. An example of that would be in (2.2-75) when Romeo says “ My life were better ended by their hate Than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.”. This was the same night he met Juliet and he is already willing to die to see her! With this evidence, we can see that Romeo is very impulsive and makes many mistakes because of this. If you remember, Romeo is a grown man. This means that he has influence over children and Juliet is just a child. Romeo influenced her to love him and manipulated her into being with him. Because of the way she was influenced she could not think right and did many stupid things like faking her death. This is shown in the scene where Juliet kills herself for real. The reason she kills herself is that she was in love with Romeo but Romeo killed himself because he was screwed. He never really loved her, he just wanted to get laid. Even if he did really love her he still tricked her into loving him back by ruining her likelihood of marrying Paris, killing her cousin, getting banished, and in the end even driving her (A thirteen-year-old girl) to suicide.
