Did you ever wonder who was to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Today, we are going to dive into this situation. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Skakespear starts with Romeo and Juliet meeting up at a party and decide to get married the next day. Romeo ended up killing Tybalt just after the wedding and ended up getting banished. Romeo then learns Juliet “dies” and rushes back to Vernona and he kills himself. The Friar and the Nurse were to blame because they were the adults and they agreed to marry the two together even though they were of different houses. The Nurse was to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because she couldn’t be there for Juliet and encouraged their lies. The nurse tells Juliet that Romeo is at the church to make her his wife and not to tell her parents (Shakespeare 62). This affected everything because when her father tried to marry her to Paris, he didn’t she was already married and that it would be illegal. In the text, the Friar says “Take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off, when presently through all thy veins shall run a cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse shall keep his native progress, but surcease.” (Shakespeare 95).
