Who’s to Blame? How would you feel if your child was in an arranged marriage and then found out they are in love with someone else, then killed themselves because they love someone else? How would you feel if you knew someone had assisted them in the process of killing themself? Romeo and Juliet's parents probably have good answers to those questions. The Nurse could be responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but the one who is most to blame is the Friar. The Friar is mostly to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married Romeo and Juliet, left Juliet alone in the tomb, and made the plan for Romeo to come back to Verona and bring Juliet to Mantua with him. To start, Friar is mostly to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married Romeo to Juliet. In the play, it states, “Come, come away. Thy husband in thy bosom there lies dead, and Paris too. Come, I’ll dispose of thee among a sisterhood of holy nuns.” (Act 5, page 475, lines 156-160). This supports my reasoning because it shows how Friar was trying to rush Juliet out of there then he leaves her in the tomb. Because the Friar left Juliet alone in the tomb, she ended up killing herself with Romeo’s dagger. If the Friar would have stayed in the tomb with Juliet instead of running off because he was scared of the guard he could have saved Juliet.
