Why Are Americans Lazy

Quite frankly most American citizens are lazy. There is many factors that contribute to the unfortunate laziness of many American’s. Many of these factors have just come about within the last decade. For instance, one reason many American citizens tend to be lazy is because of the increase of popularity in video games and television. Another reason many American’s are couch potatoes is because they spend many hours working inside an office building. Within the last few years, American’s have also began to eat more often and eat bigger portions. Also, many American’s are less outgoing more than ever. The statements above are just a handful of reasons on why American’s are so lazy.

While it is good that American’s are busy working, many of those hours working are sitting behind a desk. The most movement they get is moving their fingers on a keyboard. Therefore, after a long day of not much physical activity, American’s go home and continue to just sit around and do nothing. Simply, because that is all they did throughout the day. If American’s are more active in their job throughout the day, they tend to go home and continue to be more active. Unfortunately, that is not usually the case.
In the 1970s healthy eating habits were everything but a priority. American’s have come along way since that time. Although, Americans are now eating out more often, where the servings are increasingly becoming larger. Also, Americans are consuming five hundred more calories than they did in the 1970s. Along with that, Americans are also eating three times as much cheese, more fats, and way too much sugar (Lebowitz). In the 1950s the average hamburger being served was 3.9 ounces. Now, the average size of a hamburger is an astonishing 12
