World War 1 began on July 28, 1914, because of many factors such as militarism, alliances, nationalism, imperialism, and the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. However the most significant of these factors are alliances, which caused the war by other countries joining in the war to help their ally, imperialism which caused the war by countries fighting for power and influence in other countries, and the assassination of Franz Ferdinand which caused the war by Austria-Hungary blaming, and declaring war on Serbia.
