After WWII in 1947 the Cold war started. It was a war that could have evolved into a terrible nuclear war. Only reason why it didn’t is because each side (U.S and Russia) knew that when one side pushed the button the other side would too. Some things that caused the cold war to happen is the arm’s race, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and finally because of the Cuban missile crisis.

One reason the cold war started is because of the arms race. The arm’s race was a big cause in the cold war because each side was trying to intimidate each other with nukes. This made each side upgrade their nuclear arsenal so that they seemed better than their enemies. This would cause each side to have to spend a lot of money. Also both sides had a very unsafe feeling
