Europe Embrace Scientific Revolution
The rise of the west was a direct result of some of the brilliant minds and advancements in the civilization during that time. From scientific knowledge which helped classify different elements that exist on the earth to the knowledge of what exist outside of the earth like the different planets and stars. Through the intellection minds of people like Mozi (ca. 470-391 B.C.), who helped the advancements in the subject of mathematics, to individuals like Hippocrates of Kos ( ca.450- 370 B.C. ) that created a method of preserving health through proper diets and fitness. The revolution itself started with belief of an Italian who lived in Italy by the name of Galileo (1564-1642). Galileo believed that the knowledge of mathematics was needed to understand how the universe works and not just based off religious beliefs. Of course now in this time period we understand that we need math like measurements, formula and physics to understand how the stars and gravity work. Yet back then everyone believed universe was shaped and made based off of Christian scripture by the Catholic Church. The issue that aroused was the fact that Galileo’s research and discovery doesn’t quite support what catholic believed that was based off their Christian scripture. For example, Galileo has said that there are more stars then mentioned in the bible because of the fact that he had a telescope. However, Galileo’s work and discovery wasn’t being noticed because it was said during that time any observation or knowledge of a subject that isn’t supported or found from holy scripture is disapproved and make your observation not true. The Holy Scripture itself however, talks more about how God can help achieve salvation from the world and less in-depth about the world itself and how it all works. Galileo was able to spread the idea that humans can learn and reason how thing work on an everyday basis rather than just knowing out of a book. Europe was able to embrace this idea as …show more content…

One of the greatest scientific discoveries during the 17th century was the discovery of cells by Robert Hooke. His rival was Isaac Newton, who was able to utilize the research and discoveries made before him to derive an understanding of the world. With this he was able to make what is understood today as the three laws of motion. For example, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. It may seem to us that knowing this is useless and just commonsense but back then with this knowledge it able to allow innovation and amazing mechanical inventions during industrial revolution. Roberts Hooke colleague Robert Boyle was able to understand and explain the theory of the properties of air. Later on Boyle career he was credited to discovering oxygen. With So many great minds in Europe Isaac Newton decided to make a society that consists of all the great’s scientists in London that could share and work together to create a greater future. The society was called Royalty society with Newton as the president of the society. The amazing part of the Royal Society was that it admitted individuals from and class or religion which seems to create a culture of universal peace in Europe that kept Europe itself from discriminating and not starting any war.
