The Mongol invasion on Baghdad could possibly be thought of as a critical moment in world history. The Mongols left a cavernous trauma on all parts of the Muslim world. It made the population drop significantly, they were left with no leader,it ruined the central points of Islamic civilization, and all of their major buildings and markets were destroyed. Despite the difficulties that Baghdad and the Islamic world faced because of this attack, Islam still stood strong to continue to be a major world religion.

Baghdad was the major capital of the
Abbasid Caliphate, which was predominantly an Islamic region. Last but not least, all of their major buildings and markets were destroyed. This made it impossible for later generations to worship or experience what their ancestors did in previous times. It also affected the pace at which the city was rebuilt.

On the other side of things, Islam still remained a powerful world religion. Before the attack,
Islam was a very widespread religion, as seen in chapters six through eight. Islam covered the
Arabian peninsula, parts of Africa, Spain, parts of the Middle East, parts of India, and parts of
Asia. After the attack, many people were still recognized as Muslims. Even today, Islam is very widespread and has a high count of followers. Islam can be found all over the world and is still considered a very popular religion.

This argument is similar to the Charleston church shooting in 2015. First, there was a population drop. In Baghdad, 800,000 people lost their lives to invaders. In Charleston, 9 people lost their lives to an invader. Although these numbers are very diverse, each and every live was valued and the losses could have been prevented.
