Boston Tea Party: The dumping of British cargo angered the British and intensified the animosity between Britain and the colonies. This could also have been a way to manipulate Americans who had no real passion for independence. Once the news about this tea party spread, colonists were more aware that they needed to choose a side. 3.
colonists that were led by the Sons of LIberty, wanted the ships to return to England while the Governor Thoman Hutchinson refused to let ships go back to England the other leader known as Samuel Adams organized what is known as the “tea party” with a rough estimate of about sixty members of the Sons of Liberty. That night the members of the Sons of LIberty disguised as Indians with Mohawks boarded the three ships and dumped the three hundred and forty-two barrells of tea into the harbor which was worth roughly $18,000-$19,000. After the Boston Tea Party parliament, was angry with the destruction of British property and enacted the Coercive Acts, also known as the Intolerable Acts, in 1774. The Coercive Acts shut down the Boston Harbor until all of the tea that was dumped into the Harbor was paid for.
The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 16, 1773. The Coercive Acts are names used to describe a series of laws relating to Britain's colonies in North America and passed by the British Parliament in 1774. Four of the acts were issued in direct response to the Boston Tea Party of December 1773. Patrick was part of a Son Of Liberty which was a organization that was created in the Thirteen American Colonies. The society was formed to protect the rights of the colonists and to fight taxation by the British
What was the main reason for the Boston Tea Party, let me explain. The Boston Tea Party was a huge protest against England because England kept taxing the colonists without asking them. England made taxes such as the Navigation acts,Stamp act,Townshend acts, and more over the next 122 years, but the most infuriating act that caused the most important backlash from the colonists was the tea act. The colonists drank a lot of tea, they drank it everyday and when England placed a tax on it the colonists knew they had to do something. What was the cause of the
Overall, I think that the colonists needed to make a stand for themselves and successfully did. The colonists came up with a plan to disguise themselves as British soldiers. Then on December 16, 1773 they would go onto the Dartmouth, Eleanor and the Beaver to dump the 342 crates of tea into the water. The Sons of liberty were the colonist group that decided a change was needed and created this plan.
In dire need of paying off war debt, the British Parliament decided to tax the colonists due to the debt being their fault. Along with taxing the colonists, the East India Company boosted the income for the Parliament and benefited the George III by hurting the colonists economically by enacting the tea act. Blending “lethal politics, personalities, and economics”3 the American Revolution was bound to happen between the colonists and British, having little supporters of the idea of war. With the tension build up between the colonists and British Parliament, the Boston Tea Party occurred with the colonists rebelling against the Parliament’s political decision towards the colonists, symbolizing the starting point for a revolution and a step
During the early 1700s, the protests in the colonies against British policies quieted down, but that does not mean that the colonists were satisfied with the British government. The Tea Act was intended to help the British East India Company. Everyone that had been drinking tea was paying taxes that Parliament had placed on them without their consent. The Tea Act however, lowered the price to the tea by allowing the East India Company to ship tea directly to the colonies. Lots of Colonial leaders argued that even though the price of tea was lowered, colonists still had to pay the tax on the tea.
This was a really important event, that we remember now days too. Since the colonists boycotted many things especially the tea, that made it worse for the British East Indian Company. The colonists believed that the British were tricking them to buy tea, instead of paying tax. in 1773, the Boston Patriots dressed as Indians, they boarded three British ships laden with tea and dumped the tea into the harbor. After all of these harsh measures the colonies take action and have the first continental congress.
The colonists were still not represented in the British government and didn’t have a say on how the taxes could be done. The colonists wanted the tea returned to England, but it wasn’t and they decided to protest the unfair tax. The Boston Tea Party Was it a big, fun party with tea?
The point of the party was to protest the new taxes, it was a very iconic event in American history which eventually led to the American revolution. Let us go back a little bit because the party was an extremely iconic event that made a lasting imprint on U.S. History. After a very long and costly war with France and England, King George and British Parliament needed to figure out a way to start recovering all the money lost, so what better than to tax the people to help raise money to pay off the massive debts. They chose to place this tax on tea sold in both England and its colonies. Their thoughts were that people would rather pay a tax than give up their daily tea.
After the boycotts and protests the tea had all rotted and could not be used, I know what they did was wrong and thought they could have handled it differently, but they did prove our point. Parliament was not happy and thought that Boston should repay for the lost tea, and put forth four punishments, we like to call them the Intolerable Acts. Since Massachusetts seemed to be the only one being punished a lot of the other colonies realized how corrupt parliament really was. We couldn’t even have town meetings without the approval of the governor and we were under the control of parliament. This alone pushed many of us away from the crown and towards becoming American Patriots.
The Boston Tea Party was a violent, courageous, and an eventful act that took place in 1997 because of constant disputes. It started to become a large issue when the British and English colonist constantly disagreed about the unfair taxes that were charged from the British. The colonists didn’t agree to the taxes at all the the government officials formed a plan. The British put such a hefty tax on the tea because they realized the demand was so outrageously high, and they could make a much larger profit off of it. Colonists did not want to pay the huge taxes, so they started buying/smuggling tea from East India, but the British wanted to have the colonists to buy tea from them because of the taxes.
To start off, the Boston tea party was one of the causes of the American Revolution But before we get into the Boston tea party, we have to know a few things about the French and Indian War. Basically Britain and France fight a war for control over North America from 1756 to 1763. Britain wins, however they went into a big amount of debt fighting in it. After the war, the government of the British decided that the American colonist had to help pay that debt.
The boston tea party occurred when colonist as a way of rebelion attack british by throwing the tea that they found in their ships. And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products. And the unique product that haven’t tax was the tea.
The Boston Tea Party was a symbolic event of the Revolution, but one can speculate with a good degree of certainty that it would not have occurred if not for the series of historic events in Boston and other colonies that preceded it. The Boston tea party was a result of The Stamp Act, The Currency Act, and The Tea Act. Since Great Passed these three laws it angered many of the colonist and resulted in The Boston Tea Party. The Currency Act was the first of many new laws that Great Britain had created that the many of the colonist angry. The Currency Act was a law the prohibited American colonist from using there own American money to buy goods from England.
