4. How did the United States and its allies achieve victory over the Axis powers? Consider politics, military and technology.
One reason why the Axis powers were able to be defeated was that Axis was too spread out. As a result, instead of concentrating their forces all in one area, they had to defend themselves on many fronts in Europe, the Pacific, and North Africa. This problem was further exasperated when Stalin’s agreement with Hitler was broken and Stalin switched to the Allies side. Therefore, since the territories the Axis powers occupied were too spread out, they were not able to consolidate their forces to just one place, and as a result they were able to be attacked from all over, causing them to be consequently pushed back.

Hitler made speeches and used propaganda to blame Germany’s Jewish population for such debt. As a result, anti-semitism was on the rise in Germany and some Germans attacked Jewish people. This was seen on Kristallnacht, when many Synagogues and stores owned by Jews were raided. Anti-semitism escalated further as many Jews were sent to concentration camps to be killed. By the end of the war, approximately 6 million Jewish people were killed in these camps. While some Jewish people tried to flee German to escape this horrible fate, many were not able to do so because most countries turned the Jewish refugees away.
