Madison Gross DBQ Outline WWII 5/14/18 Why did the world plunge into World War II in 1939? What is the most effective response to aggression-appeasement or collective security? It started because Hitler was trying to unite Germany and gain land for the people. Hitler, as Germany’s leader wanted more territory so they took it.
World War II was a war that started because of a Fammious not so good leader named Adolf Hitler who made it really clear that he was antisemitic and wanted Jews to be a thing of the past. He started mass genocide against Jews in 1933 when he came into power. Then, on September 1, 1939, Hitler invaded Poland, which started World War II single handly until September 2, 1945, when he killed himself in a bunker. And this made World War II justified because of the mass genocide of Jews and civilians, and the sure amount of power Hitler had over Europe. But its also not Justified because World War II was justified to stop Hitler from killing more Jews and civilians.

In 1905, when Japan astonishingly beat Russia in the Russo-Japanese War, Japanese expansion in Asia and the Pacific became possible. When the worldwide Great Depression started in 1930, not only was it a time of instability, but for some nations, such as Germany, Italy, and Japan, it was a time for developing a desire to expand. Even though the United states was not going to go to World War 2 they did after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. During this valiant battle the United States Military had a lot of young healthy men join to fight in World War 2 because they wanted to make sure that the germans and japanese did conquer the world by fight them off. After this war ended on November 11, 1918, leaders from the countries made a treaty called the Treaty of Versailles. After this treaty was made, many things happened and the question in many people 's minds was how did this treaty cause WWII? The Treaty of Versailles helped cause WWII by treating Germany harshly in these three ways: Their army was reduced, they lost territory, and the number one reason is all of the blame Germany got. One way that the Treaty of Versailles treated Germany harshly was the way that it reduced their army. After the date of March 31, 1920, Germany wasn’t allowed to have over one hundred thousand soldiers in its army, (Doc B) Germany would more than likely be furious because what if they were attacked?
The thought of another war struck fear in everyone, but their fear led to bad decisions being made. The Munich Agreement was not needed and most likely is one of the final straws before the war, “it was unnecessary…because the Czech defenses were strong were very strong…and because German generals were aware that Germany was weak at the moment. They were actually prepared to attempt to remove Hitler” (Document 7). This quote proves that the lengths they took to prevent another war ended up being for the worse. Their desperation made them make a poor decision that ended up starting a war instead of keeping the peace.

Another cause of the World War II was that after World War I, the European nations wanted to maintain peace , but Hitler did not. Hitler became aggressive and started to take land from neighboring
