Hi Allison, I have not read this book yet, but I heard about it a lot. The purpose of writing is to express our thoughts and emotions about our environment, surroundings, and thing we go through in life. That being said, I believe that it is unjustifiable that the book is banned from certain areas; Angelou simply used the book to express the true reality of what African Americans encountered during that time period. The descriptions of rape, use of profanity, racism, violence, and drug abuse all exemplify the actual part of reality in which the vast majority would like to ignore. I believe that the banning of the book convey that challengers want to get rid of a genuine part in African Americans’ history, and thus I don’t approve of banning
Books can create portals to different life experiences and encourage reading. Banned or challenged book are books that people think are offensive in some way to them or others. A person 's decision to ban a book can impact others and themselves because other people will never get to read that book, therefore making people mad at that person for banning the book.
Why do people ban books? Children just like us have a mind of their own and should be able to make their own decisions by themselves to either pick up the book or to leave it alone. Censorship does not exist in public places such as stores even though children enter stores everyday these kids have learned the decency of what they should or should not do they learned what they want and what they do not want what they like and what they do not like that should be a reason that children should be able to make censorship their choice.
Books, Should We Ban Them Or Not: Banned books are books that have been taken out of public environments because of many different reasons. Books should not be banned simply because we have the rights to any books. Banned Books can teach important things about our history. Books that have been banned teach great morals/lesson even with the negative content. Banning Books infringes on people 's personal rights.
Banned Books are books that are prohibited by law or to which free access is not permitted by other means. Banning books is against the writers right for freedom of speech, which is the first amendment. Students have the right to read, reading is not illegal, so why ban books? If a reader is mature enough to handle some curse words or bad behavior then they should be able to read banned books. Some people believe books should not be banned in schools/libraries but just because you do not like it does not mean it should be taken away, that is the authors freedom of speech.
