Advertisements and Social Media Do magazine advertisements send unrealistic signals to young women and men? Some might say they do while others would say they do not. Over the years there have been many debates over this topic and not over just magazine advertisements. Ever since social media apps like Instagram have become more popular, people have been following young women and men who have the “perfect body.” Having the perfect body is a really important part in this industry because they make the outfit or whatever item their modeling look better. Now there are debates whether these people actually have a perfect figure or are they altering these people to make it look like they have something that they really do not. Social media has made a huge deal about these people not actually having the perfect body and that their real body is covered up by things like photoshop. Magazines obviously use this program to make their models look perfect and have no flaws whatsoever. These young women think that they have to look exactly like these models to even be considered beautiful. Young men have the same issues as women when it comes to looking at these men with perfect abs and perfect hair. Teenagers are so immune to what is real and what is not and that is why there are things like eating disorders and depression. These magazine advertisements make young women and men feel like they are not good enough or that something is wrong with them because they do not look perfect all the time like what society is trying to make them think.
