Malala Yousafzai is a young girl with a tragic story. While standing up for education she got shot in the head. Fortunately she lived to tell her story, Malala wrote a book which she named I am Malala. The novel won her the Nobel Peace Prize that day she did not just win a prize but recognition and support to fight for education. The books takes us on a journey through her life she goes in detail helping us understand how it was.
Throughout her book Malala reveals to her audience how passionate she is about advocating for women’s education. In her book she states, “Here was a call for my death… and I was as calm as could be. ”(Yousafzai, pg.118). This quote reveals that Malala was unperturbed by a death threat made against her by the Taliban. Malala being unflustered by a death threat not only reveals her bravery for someone at such a young age, but also her passion for advocating for women’s education.
Malala Yousafzai is a 19 year old Nobel prize winner. She is the survivor of a failed assassination attempt by the Taliban. She is a Pakistani activist, who strongly promulgates her agenda of human rights and education advocacy. She has been named as one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World,” three years in a row. Malala gave this speech on July 12th of 2013, otherwise known as “Malala Day.”
On the topic she claimed, “If one man can destroy everything, why can't one girl change it? (Yousafzai 141-142). This brings up the valid point that just because a young girl may not seem like the predictable one to save her country and beliefs, doesn’t mean she can’t. When she did that caused her to get shot in the head by the Taliban because she didn't agree with their laws for women's rights and their education. After she was shot, she was flown away to the United Kingdom where she was able to survive the bullet. Malala is a peaceful girl as before and she like any other girls except she has won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 in the United Kingdom after her and family moved to escape the Taliban. While Malala is out there helping to save the world only making it better place for them, the Taliban are out there in the world to make it worse with their laws. She was shot and left for dead by the Taliban for standing up for women’s education at the age of 15 back in 2012. In Pakistan, women are not capable of going to school because the Taliban prohibits them from doing so. The Taliban is a terrorist group who took over Malala’s region when she was just 10 years old.
