The success of Risk Risks are the something people will take to achieve a goal, in which, that is what set those people apart from the rest. Those people are then labelled as the greats. Now, those who exceed the label of great, accomplish this by continuing taking risks, even after they do not reach their goals. Taking risks is what pushes people to do the unthinkable, and that is how we accomplish progress. Taking a risk is a necessary part of achieving success. The author of “ Why failure is Good for Success”, Paul Estrem views failure as a needed step toward success. Reagan speaks of the loss of the lives of the shuttle and how their deaths would not go in vain. Reagan spoke to the country to give them hope and strength after the terrible incident had occurred. His speech consisted of the encouragement of not giving up even though the tragedy happened. He said, "I've always had great faith and respect for our space program, and what happened today does nothing to diminish it."(Regan 34) Reagan wanted the space missions to continue even though they had failed the mission, and had some loss of life, but he used it as an encouragement toward the future of space travel and not giving up. He continues with his claim that giving up is not an option if someone wants to succeed. "We'll continue our quest in space. There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews, and, yes, more volunteer, more civilians, more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and our journey continue." (Regan 39) With that, he explains that they will use this event as an inspiration for pushing themselves to do greater things and that the pilot's accidental deaths were for their country and the betterment of progress. Beowulf often fights by himself and that he shows the risks it takes to provide the success needed to defeat evil. Beowulf is brave and takes the risks that will help him conquer his foe. He understands that he may not succeed. He says "And if death does take me send the hammered mail of my armour up to Haigler return the inheritance I had from and he from Wayland. Fate will unwind as it must."( Beowulf 186) Beowulf is aware that he may die, but he takes that chance to defeat Grendel. Even at his lowest moment, Beowulf uses risk instead of giving up. The story states, "He drew it from its scabbard, broke the chain on its hilt and then Savage, now, angry, and desperate, lifted it high over his head and struck with all the strength he had left. (Beowulf 519) Beowulf used the last of his strength to finish his fight, and if he did not he would have died.
