Gender, race, and region clearly influence the issue of gun control. In relation to gun ownership, men are five times more likely than women to own guns (Gallup). Moreover, in a survey where participants were asked whether it is more important to support the protection of gun rights or gun control, men support gun rights at a rate of 57% while women do so at 37% (Pew Research Center). Having established that gun rights are more associated with males, there is also a differentiation between race and region. 50% of white men own guns whereas only 34% of non-white men do, and white southern men are the most likely to own a gun at 61% (Gallup).

Guerra talks about health and mental care providers can educate families and students about gun safety and the sole purpose of preventing any involvement in rage shootings. The article analyzes development risk factors, as well as the community around them, that could lead youth to gun violence. First, the authors discussed how firearm injuries are higher in states where gun ownership is more prevalent and less restricted. They highlight how having firearms at home is not a direct cause of death but failing to safely secure a gun is a known risk for incidents like school shootings.
In the past couple weeks I’ve noticed that there has been a lot of violence in different communities all across Pennsylvania. There’s gun violence, drug activity, and murders being committed every day. All of these things that happen affect the children, teens, and young adults. That’s why I want to improve every community that can’t afford or are the most affected by these things.
Gun Violence At a recent high school football game, a line of excited fans were waiting to purchase tickets when, all of a sudden, loud bursts exploded in the sky. Frantic parents and children scattered in all directions only to realize fireworks were being displayed to celebrate "Senior Night" at Nettleton High School. The sad fact is that daily, the news is filled with stories about mass shootings in schools, theaters, malls, and other places. Innocent lives are being taken by gun violence and nobody seems to have answers.
Making an effective advertisement is difficult, and time consuming, but it is mandatory to attract the target audience. In this case, this advertisement is targeting parents educational institutions and legislators, aiming is to raise awareness about the ever increasing epidemic of gun violence. This awareness advertisement aims to convince the audience that gun violence shouldn’t be accepted in the community, and is making a comparison between a law and a dangerous weapon. This advertisement is effective to to a broad audience and is still effective to the general public.
Thesis 1: Charlton Heston is directly responsible for the large amount of gun ownership in America and is thus responsible for the large amount of gun related violence in America. If he stopped his rallying then gun violence would drop. Response: I disagree with this statement because Charlton Heston only promotes legal ownership of guns, and he does not support any form of violence and only encourages guns be used for self defence.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.
Gun control has been a big factor in today’s society, now days it is often to see people getting their lives taken from them due to guns. Having researched one side of the issue, that gun violence had increased over the last year. Having researched the other side of the issue, more gun owners are feeling their rights are being taken little by little. There is no question this is a complicated issue that will require a complicated answer.
Gun control laws would actively break the terms of the right to self-defense and it would also deny people a sense of safety. According to the National Rifle Association (NRA), guns are used for self-defense two point five million times a year, the police cannot protect everyone all of the time. Fifty one percent of men and fifty six percent of women surveyed by Pew Research said that stricter gun laws would ‘make it more difficult for people to protect their homes and families’ (ProCon.org 3). Gun deaths affects everyone; the victims, families, society, as well as healthcare. Within the last decade, roughly 700,000 emergency department visits were related to gunshot wounds, these cost hospitals on average, $25 billion dollars (Johnson, 2017). Health Affairs released a study showing that from 2006 to 2014 cost associated with gunshot wounds totaled $2.9 billion in emergency department charges alone, and $22 billion for inpatient care (Johnson, 2017). Those numbers do not include follow-up and rehabilitative care.
American citizens manage to only agree on one thing: that there are many reasons behind gun violence. However, while people admit that there are causes, there is yet to be an accord with everyone. Right-wing politicians argue that our country should allow less gun laws, while the rest of the country disagrees almost completely.
The use of and the owning of guns is a very hot and debated topic in society today. For many, this is a life and death debate due to the recent and numerous school shootings. These school shootings have caused an outcry for more gun control, specifically in relation to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Despite these calls, increased gun control is not the answer. Most gun owners’ use their guns responsibly and for good purposes.
Gun control is a topic that has been debated over the last few years. It is a subject that many people stand for and against the change in policy. Basically gun control would change the way firearms are regulated, by changing laws or polices that control how they are made, sold, owned, and used by civilians. However by trying to take away firearms from civilians would be infringing upon their rights as United States citizens. There are many ethical reasons why gun control should not be implemented towards law-abiding citizens such as it is hypocritical, neglects the reality of control, and is discriminating against gun owners.
Gun control is not one issue that individuals worry about constantly. The gun violence touches every part of our society. It uncommonly increases the probability of accidental deaths, domestic violence that seeks to harm others and tries to commit suicide, puts children and young people at particular risk, and unexpectedly increases the chances of their death affecting colored communities. The control of weapons on some people is a crime, and for others it is a matter. Gun control is a safety, educational, racial, and political issue.
The topic I want to talk about is Gun violence. Gun violence is pretty much explains itself, It is the usage of a gun to commit a violent act. I think Gun violence is an important issue because there are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year. The way it affects me personally, is because my grandmother shot herself when I was younger.
