I love the farm. Ever since I was a little boy I am always outdoors with the animals. Following my dad’s footsteps, I went to work with him at the elevators, usually always running my hands through the wheat, corn, and soybeans that farmers brought in to the elevators. I knew I wanted to grow up and have a job somewhere in the agriculture world! The career I have chosen is Ag Business with hopes of being a farmer on the side. Many of my family members have influenced me like my dad, grandfather, and many others have helped me experience a little bit of these careers. Some courses I enjoy are math, English, science, and everything agriculture related. FFA has also helped me. I really enjoy being around animals my current job is at a dairy where I milk up to around 160-180 head of dairy cattle per milking. Most companies provide you with the tools you will need to get the job done. ( Eck ) Farmers use equipment such as tractors and combines to harvest crops. Tractors and feed trailers are mainly used when hauling resources to livestock. If you’re the owner of your own farm, you are required to provide yourself everything you need. If your employed or work around the farm, most of the time farmers provide you with the equipment needed. ( Welcome ) Some of the physical hazards of being a location manager with the degree of ag business is getting chemicals on you, grain and other objects getting caught in the bin. ( Eck ) Physical hazards for farmers becomes very dangerous when it comes to operating machinery. ( Welcome ) Both jobs are hands on job that requires strength and work! Eck
