Who takes out the garbage in the family household? Who does the taxes? Who reads the stories before bedtime? Who’s the better cook? Who’s the fun parent? Why? Is it because one enjoys mom more than dad? Or is it because it is stereotypically assumed that moms cook the food and dads pay the bills? “Why I Put My Wife’s Career First”, an article written by Andrew Moravcsik, justifies his point of view on why he feels that a father in a family should be willing to be the lead parent if his wife is in the top of their profession. Moravcsik cunningly uses repetition by stating the terms co-parenting/shared parenting numerous times in the article. These terms are repeated frequently because the main topic of the article is how he feels it is important for both parents, especially the father, to take initiative in his family. He also tends to repeat the words help, comfort and support in the article. He uses these terms recurrently to show the importance of helping the mother in a family, by taking the role of being the lead parent. He states “If Anne-Marie and I functioned as equal co-parents, in the short term helping each other to cope with work deadlines and travel, and in the longer term trading off periods of being the primary parent, everything would surely turn out fine” (Moravcsik). This explains that helping your spouse is important in a family, so that children can have a connection with both parents
