Through the community service at Child Development Center, it makes me a better person. What I learned from this is that everyone needs help, but it is my job to provide the help that they need. I can develop or enhance my skills, especially in the areas of communication, collaboration, and leadership. It helps me building positive self-esteem. I learned that I could do anything, if I put my mind to it. Before I volunteer at the Child Development Center, I did not know how to sand and seal the wood. Moreover, I didn’t know the purpose of it until I volunteer there. Beside, I did not only learned a new skill, I also helped someone. Throughout the process of volunteering, the hardest part was to ask. I need to ask how to sand the wood, how change the sand paper, where are the tools, and which part we should sand next. This theory states that goal setting is essentially linked to task performance. It states that specific and challenging goals along with appropriate feedback contribute to higher and better task performance. It means goals indicate and give direction to a person about what needs to be done and how much efforts are required to be put in. For example, when we know that we need 10 hours community service for this class; specific—we decided to volunteer at the Child Development Center and the tasks we need to do was cleaning, sanding, and sealing. Measurable—how long we need to do our community service per day? We decided to do 3 days—3 hours, 3 hours, and 4 hours. Adjustable—two of my friends and I adjusted our schedule so, we can go together. Reasonable—it is doable to finish 10 hours community service in 3 days if we follow the plan we created. Timetable—we set hours to fit our schedule; for example, three of us decided to go every Tuesday from 1pm to 4
