Georgetown has been my dream school since sophomore year of high school. I would like to study at Georgetown in particular because of my connections to the east coast and specifically Virginia. I currently live in El Paso, TX, which happens to be on the opposite side of the country from the majority of my extended family. My aunts, uncles, and grandparents all live along the east coast and some even live in Virginia. It would be wonderful to live closer to family, but even if that weren’t the case, it would still be my top pick. I’ve had the privilege of visiting Georgetown, and both the campus and the surrounding area have captured my heart. I am applying to Georgetown as an undergrad to finish my prerequisites, but my ultimate goal is to continue on to nursing school. Along with nursing, one of my goals is to move away from home and become more independent. I applied to volunteer because I knew that I was going to need the experience in the future. Even at 13 I was sure that I enjoyed the medical field and wanted to pursue it as a career. The process was made easier due to my connections in the hospital; my mother was the head nurse of the Women’s Health clinic, and the head of the Red Cross office was a friend of ours. I loved every second of volunteering and spent at least three eight-hour days there every week for the entire summer from 2012 to 2014.
