What do you want to be when you grow up? A question many of us were asked at least once in our life. When I was little, I wanted to be a veterinarian. Unfortunately, I was allergic to animals. There went my dream! Yet, I didn 't stop looking for an answer.
I used to live in Maunabo, a municipio, or small town, in Puerto Rico. Where I lived was down a steep hill with a river nearby. It was usually hot and humid in Puerto Rico, so most of the time I stayed at home. Every day, when I came home from school, I would put my school things away, sat on the faded red sofa and turned on the TV. I would watch Danny Phantom, or any show that was on and watched with my family. I was always fascinated by the stories, the characters and would end up daydreaming. I would ask myself if there was something that would allow me to use creativity and imagination to make something new? Well, there were many answers to that question, but none that I wanted.
At eight years old, I left Puerto Rico to live in the United States. I had learned English from watching American TV shows. It’s true! Well, I did have English classes back in Puerto Rico but I learned more from watching TV. In school, my favorite classes were English, Art, and Music. I have made a promise to myself that I would work hard when I can, keep my grades up in school, practice hard topics, and study daily. Whenever I have an idea, or imagine something in my mind, I write it down or change it. As a person, I chose this path because I really wanted to go through it. I am proud to have accomplished many of my goals. I hope to learn more about the career I want and fulfill many of my goals. I thank my family, my friends, and teachers that pushed me and helped me reach where I am now. I can finally and truly say that I know what I want to be when I grow
