Why I Want To Become Anesthesiologist

As an Asian American, the Chinese culture I was raised in cultivated my work ethic today. Beginning as a poor student in a poverty stricken Chinese town, my father struggled through twenty years of education in a foreign language in a foreign country to become an anesthesiologist.
To accomplish becoming an anesthesiologist under his circumstances is a feat in itself. To do so selflessly in light of a better future for others, specifically for his wife and children, is pure inspiration.
My father’s strict, higher standards and influence on my life is what drives me to succeed as he did. From the expectations of my parents, I developed an aptitude to accept the challenges presented between me and my goals and to work endlessly towards overcoming them. I love sport of water polo, and the players that I have become close with in the past five years. The mutual understanding between teammates, to endure long hardship together to achieve the ultimate goal, is invaluable. I’ve had the privilege of working with my peers in MoneyThink at Columbus International and the blessing of mentoring the children of the school, to ensure that they receive the proper financial skills to prosper and survive in a world dependent on monetary understanding. I’ve had the humbling privilege of teaching the disabled and youth to swim in Special Olympics. Dedicating my time to transform the potential tragedies that are drownings and losing loved ones, to a skill they may enjoy is a worthwhile endeavor.
