My eight years of experience working in logistics management around the world have provided me with the unique knowledge and abilities to work as a General Service Officer (GSO) for the U.S. Department of State. I am motivated to join the U.S. Department of State, as a GSO, because of my unique personal and professional experiences, as well as my confidence, in my ability, to relate my knowledge, experience, and skills into the management of a broad range of functions including the management of physical resources and logistics at U.S. government diplomatic and consular posts around the world.

The next series of pivotal experiences came to me by way of volunteer work as a Marine Security Guard in Valletta, Malta and Seoul, South Korea. In both instances I had the opportunity to answer questions about my personal experiences and share American culture. Although, crucial these experiences where significantly amplified by my concurrent professional experiences. Like my personal experience my professional played a significant role in motivating me to join the Foreign Service. When I turned 19, I had already been in Iraq for 4 months serving as a Security Scout Gunner in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. I remember seeing children playing as our Convoy drove through a small village on a resupplying mission. The juxtaposition of a Military convoy back dropped against the laughter and carefree attitude of these children, made me consider different approaches to being involved in the international community. Two years later I chose to become a Marine Security Guard. In this role I was responsible for providing security to American Diplomats at several U.S. Embassies.
