Being Hispanic is probably one of the greatest blessings to me and one of the most unique things to have. I love everything that has to do with being Hispanic from the culture, knowing two languages, and the diversity that is brought by being Hispanics. Being Hispanic is honoring and something that personally has given me a lot to be proud about. The culture that is taught as being Hispanic is very unique. One of the most beautiful parts is the unity that is seen within the family. My family personally has been very close since I have memory and although we have gone through a lot of things my mother has been the rock to my family. She has taught me the value of having and education and has always given me support. My siblings have also helped me throughout this journey and it is something that I will never be able to repay. As a family we have had a close union moving forward together. Also the value of being catholic was taught to me from a very young age and now I am very involved in church. Being bilingual has helped me in so many ways in my job and also in my youth group. The fact that I know two languages is incredible. Spanish being part of who I am and English because it is an essential language to know. In my job currently I have many customers that speak really little English and knowing Spanish helped them feel more comfortable. It makes them feel welcomed to come back and that makes me really happy to know that I can make someone else feel better. In my youth group I have some kids that speak English more than Spanish and some that speak Spanish more than English and it is good to know that I can speak Spanglish to them and be able to know that I have the faculty to do it without any barrier.
