Why Is Hazing Wrong

Hazing is a sorority and fraternity based tradition that has been practiced since 387 B.C solely for admittance into their union. “Scholars from these universities used hazing practices…to determine whether a person was worthy of future employment” (Alverez 14). Hazing much like stoning in the lottery is both deadly and overlooked by society. For example, at the University of North Carolina a fraternity, “forced the pledges to sing and dance while standing on barrels. Rand fell off his barrel and cut his jugular vein, causing him to bleed to death” (Alverez 22). The senseless act of hazing has killed a large number of people all because ‘’tradition must be followed”. People who are interested in joining fraternities and sororities are forced
