As a teacher, your not only there to teach. You have to bring kids together and help them socialize to create a realistic environment for the future. You help students that are going through hard times by talking one on one with them or getting help for them. Teachers are only told what to teach, but how they do it is up to them. The fact that teachers are only told what to teach leaves them to deliver the information to the students in a way that they will remember the information. A good teacher knows that most students absorb information better when they are taught in a more interactive way. It’s not always easy to take students out of the school or provide them with materials to be hands on with. Hands on learning is much more productive because students get to teach themself what their learning by experiencing instead of taking notes. Teachers need to understand their students to really connect with them. Knowing when it’s ok to raise you voice is crucial to helping students learn. Having things to relate to with students can make the students feel like they are welcomed in the classroom and helps them be more vocal and less afraid to say anything they wouldn’t want to say otherwise. A teacher may be there to primarily teach, but while they are teaching not only are they giving students information, they are sparking new ideas that the students can use for their future. The ideas can lead to them becoming interested in a new topic, or can lead to them wanting to do something with that information other than remember it. Encouragement is key to staying dedicated to something. Teachers can be really good for that, for example “History teacher Kyle Anderson” told his history teacher when he was in high school he was interested in becoming a teacher, the teacher then states "Kyle, this world needs people like you to teach history. I’ll do anything I can to help you with your journey." That statement gave Kyle all he needed to feel like he was making the right decision wanting to become a teacher. A teacher that cares about their students teaches them more then just math and english. They teach them to do things like cook and work with wood. These are practical life skills that in some cases will help much more than knowing how to solve an equation.
