According to The National Center for Education Statistics, during the 2010-11 school year, 82 percent of high school students were enrolled in college classes while still in high school. Duel credit and advance placement courses allow high school students to obtain college credits and high school credits at the same time. It gives the student a wonderful opportunity if they are planning to further their education after high school. These courses allow the student to save money, obtain college credit, and it gives them an early look to how college will be. By taking duel credit and advance placement classes in high school, the student can save money on undergraduate tuition in college. When a student has college in their future, they will work hard and try to increase test scores. Higher tests scores makes the student eligible for advanced placement courses and the cost for those courses consist of an end of the year exam. A main reason some students take these courses are to graduate college sooner. Since freshman year can be intimidating and stressful to some students, having these credits completed allows more flexibility to their schedule. The student can interpret this advantage in one of two ways, depending on their personality and confidence. More flexibility could allow the freshman to get ahead in college by taking more courses and completing ones they would not have to worry about for their sophomore year.
