Jeffery Dahmer Jeffery Dahmer is probably one of the world's most notorious serial killers and well known not only for his methods in killing, but also for his fascination of first perpetrating the gruesome offences on animals, before then doing the same to humans. Jeffery Dahmer grew up in the state of Ohio in the USA with a mother and father, his father was an intelligent man who was a chemical engineer with a PHD in chemistry, while His mother on the other hand suffered from a range of mental disorders causing the marriage to suffer numerous problems throughout their time together (Masters, 1993; Palermo, 2004) . This is where a child begins to think logically about objects and events around them, the child should also no longer be egocentric at this stage either (egocentric: whereby the child believes the world revolves around them) Piaget (1973). Jeffery was known to be a bizarre and odd child by his peers amongst him around the age of 10, this was also the age he began to feel as though he held some sort of responsibility for his mother and often felt guilty for her actions whilst she was depressed (Egger,1998). Jeffery was very socially isolated and felt as though he was an outcast he did not seem to fit in with either his family or any social network. It became apparent that Jeffery did not form any sort of intimate relationships with anyone due to being unable to trust anyone (Masters,1993;Palermo,2004). Perhaps this was because he had no practice of intimate relationships at a younger age with his mother or father due to feeling very neglected emotionally from them both. With Edmunds previous disturbing behaviour of killing the family cats, his mother warned her ex-husband that his parents could be in danger whilst Edmund was living at their home Wright (2003). Similar to his experience whilst living at home with his mother, Edmund frequently got into altercations with his grandparents and in particular he argued with his grandmother. In 1963 Edmund and his grandmother had an altercation which would end fatally, Edmund shot his grandmother in the back of the head, and the using a knife from the kitchen he began to mutilate her body. Waiting for his grandfather to return home, Edmund waited on the porch and when his grandfather approached Edmund, Edmund shot him to death using the same shot gun he had used on his grandmother Lane & Gregg (1992). After his attack on his grandparents, Edmund called his mother to inform her of his actions, and directly after called the sheriff to turn himself in.
