There have been many women with dynamic stories in American History. Serval that are significantly important to our American history because they risked their own lives to either change the laws or ways of being. Someone who stood out to me and really spoke her mind was Mary Wollstonecraft. Because of Wollstonecraft, women and young kids today are able go to school and get an education. Mary was a hard working and dedicated woman who wrote a handful of books. Her books expressed her feelings like her famous book “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” and was published in November 1790 (Sunstein 13). At an early age she saw what the prospects were like for women and did not like it. Her greatest impacts were her views on education, class and race. It was a women’s duty to stay home and take care of the house while men were either working or getting educated. However; around the time of 1784, Mary and her best friend Fanny Blood started a school for girls in Newington Green (shmoop). In her schooling she gave lessons of conversational methods and with physical exercise. It was up and running for a while, until a year later in 1785, it was forced to close due to Mary’s massive financial problems. It was expected for a women to be uneducated and be compliant since there was not schooling for girls before Mary’s school. As a result to that theory that Mary did not agree upon, she was furious and mentioned “this is the very point I aim at. I do not wish them to have power over men but over themselves” (infed).
