Shakespeare is still a very honorable and enjoyable playwright, and I think that is respectfully so. Most people would say today 's world is a completely different world as Shakespeare 's was. But is that really so? This essay will dive into his world and into our own to dig up the similarities along with the differences. Like stated in "Shakespeare: Not of an Age, but for all Mankind", "Shakespeare is not of an age, but for all time." This just means that his work is timeless. It is still just as appreciated today but some people as it was back then. The acting industry was a cruel thing to pursue back then, and in some ways it still is. When Shakespeare was alive, absolutely no women were allowed to act or be a part of any sort of performance. If there was a female character, men would simply dress up as women and play the part. In that regard, things are totally different today. Women and usually men are welcomed and encouraged to be in plays, musicals, and other performances. Movies bring people together across the globe. The directors who cast people in the shows were also extremely racist. Whether or not you could be a hero was based on your skin tone and people of color were rarely cast. We still have this issue today. Racism is an ongoing problem in most aspects of life, even acting. During Shakespeare 's time, lowerclassmen would sit on the floor of the theatre to watch the play whereas higher classmen would purchase a seat on a different level to watch the performance. Things have changed since then, but there are still similarities. Usually there is a selection of prices for seats, based on how good the location is. Unless a theatre is letting people in free of charge for a certain occasion, you are required to purchase a ticket if you want to watch the show.
