What are three things that do not change with the passage of time? A fire is hot, water is wet, and the wind will blow. These are all things that are constant in the world we live in. No matter the moment in time these things remain unchanged in the way they are percieved. Romeo and Juliet is a relevant work for a person in modern times due to the way it shows love conquers all, families beliefs and actions can effect the way you are perceived by others, and people still make irrational decisions.
Would you rather be parented like Romeo and Juliet or like an American child today? Romeo and Juliet is about two households who do not get along with each other, but then Romeo and Juliet meet and they fall in love they cannot be together so they take their own lives. Parenting styles have changed a lot over the past four hundred years. In the time of Romeo and Juliet, parents allowed more freedoms, spent less time with their children and orchestrated their children’s relationships. In the time of Romeo and Juliet the children do not have much freedom.

One of the greatest and most persuasive writers in all of history is without a doubt William Shakespeare. The dialect of the Renaissance completely took a shift from Middle English to Early modern English in the 1500’s and early 1600’s. The modern English language was in a state of constant change and the structure fluctuated compared to all other languages. Shakespeare changed this informal type of structure through his poetry, literature, and new terms. English grew to be extensively utilized with the development of logic, religious philosophy, and physical science, however numerous authors did not have the vocabulary to convey any ideas on these topics.
"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so," this is a quote from Hamlet, one of William Shakespeare's greatest tragedy's. William Shakespeare was a great poet and playwriter. Known throughout the world, the extravagant works of Shakespeare have been performed in thousands of villages and cities. William Shakespeare has many famous works including Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, and Much Ado about nothing. Shakespeare made these plays all the way back in the 1500's.
Changing facts for influence is not new in politics. In the early seventeenth century, William Shakespeare wrote a story about King Macbeth of Scotland in which he altered historical facts about Macbeth. Shakespeare had an agenda to please King James I (historic.co.uk). One could argue that this is the primary reason William Shakespeare altered historical facts to win favor with the king and for political bias. Two integral points will support this view, the first being the facts that Shakespeare changed in the play Macbeth.
Last but not least, Shakespeare’s works help with learning foreign languages, which in turn helps with being employed for jobs that operate on an international level. Deconstructing the text in the bard’s plays leads to students paying further attention to literary aspects such as grammar, sentence structure, and pronunciation. The skills improved from reading Shakespeare are the basis for learning almost every foreign language; students will have an easier time learning new languages and have a wider range of jobs if they do happen to become fluent in one. To the Dripping Springs Independent School District School Board: For centuries, Shakespeare has been part of school’s curriculums to enrich students understanding of the English language. However, in recent years schools have been taking shakespeare out of their curriculum, but DSISD has decided to keep shakespeare because of the similarity of Shakespeare and life today and also the enrichment of the English language. To prove that Shakespeare is still relevant by making of a remake set in modern times showing that Shakespeare can be adapted into a modern setting. Although William Shakespeare was appreciated as a distinguished playwright and poet during his lifetime, it was not until the 19th century that the name of William Shakespeare received the status he holds now. The commencement of the 20th century marked an era of Shakespeare’s plays being excessively adapted, and altered to different mediums of performing arts, studied, rediscovered and translated into many languages all over the world. Shakespeare remains the only writer whose every line has been profoundly studied and interpreted by historians, scholars and students. The everlasting works of William Shakespeare have truly left a deep and lasting effect on world literature, theatre and cinema. Sadly, William Shakespeare died on May 3rd, 1616.
“William Shakespeare’s Impact on Theater” says that “Theater, in particular, has experienced many changes due to his influence,” and without any major influence like Shakespeare to guide the changes of theater, it would be extremely different (Octane 1). Shakespeare introduced many new elements to theater because of how his writing was unique in his time period. Despite this, his writing appealed to many different audiences. For instance, Octane says that “The way in which Shakespeare’s plots move forward has helped define modern play-writing. Similarly, Shakespeare’s complex characterizations have brought forth a new type of storytelling in which characters’ choices drive plots forward” and “His plays were often imbued with universal truths of human existence, rather than acting as mirrors of the privileged life.
It has been often said that Shakespeares plays are no longer relevant to the 21st century, but I think otherwise. I believe that Shakespeares plays are still very relatable and the themes can still connect with the 21st century. Macbeth, for example, has many themes that could connect with the themes and fundamentals of today. Some of the themes in Macbeth that are relevant today is the corruption of power, ambition, and fate. All of these themes happen today in the 21st century, making Macbeth very relevant today.
In the essay “Shakespeare Meets The 21st Century” (297), Michael Kahn believes that all renditions of Shakespeare’s plays are “interpretations” that reflect the approach to acting and producing at the time of production. In recent times the productions of Shakespeare’s plays have undergone changes to the manner of speaking to be more “conversational” while attempting to retain the rhythm and tone of the play. He explains that Shakespeare’s plays were themselves adapted from those of other playwrights. He marvels at the experience of those who originally witnessed and had no prior knowledge of Shakespeare’s plays must have had. In the twenty-first century, the plays of William Shakespeare may at first appear dated and irrelevant: they use archaic language, are set in the age of Kings and Queens, and the Kingdom of England. However, it would be plainly mistaken to construe that Shakespeare’s works do not still remain integral to a twenty-first century society. Shakespeare’s plays gave the words and expressions one uses every day, revolutionized the art of theater as it was known, and forewarned about issues that would unknowingly still apply centuries later. Therefore, Shakespeare has had a profound effect on our lives by enriching our language and culture, as well as providing ideas that would still apply five centuries later, and it would thus behoove us to learn from his works and life.
3 Shakespeare’s Contributions In the early 16th century, The English language was not highly rated. It was rather seen as a language spoken day-to-day by the lower-caste society due to it sounding barbaric and lacking the sophistication that foreign languages required. Therefore, it was not promoted at schools. Children were taught Latin and Greek in schools, because they were the default languages for scholarly and ecclesiastical communication.
