Smoking In Middle Tennessee State University Campus It is shocking that, a million people around the globe are shortening their life span through smoking. In addition, their actions are also affecting the people who have made a choice not to smoke due to second hand smoke. Smoking is an act whereby a substance most frequently, tobacco or cannabis is inhaled. The number of the youth smoking is dramatically increasing over the years, and therefore, many campuses are making their institutions a smoking free zone. The Middle Tennessee State University Campus has made its campus a tobacco free institution in order to promote a safe, healthy and aesthetic educational, working and living environment. Therefore, it is important for the Middle Tennessee State University Campus to restrict the use of all forms of tobacco in the institution. As it is well known that, peer pressure is the main cause of smoking in most campuses, it is important to ban smoking in our campus in order to reduce the number of smoking students. We are the future stewards of the world, and therefore, what we do now will affect our future children, hence, it is important to support the ban of smoking in order to save out children from second hand smoking in the future. Let us not be misled that smoking is cool; smoking affects out health but we can be saved by avoiding the act of smoking. Smoking leads to a number of diseases for instance, cancer to the esophagus, lung cancer, throat cancer, and even bladder cancer. Smoking can also cause kidney diseases, cardiovascular disease for instance, stroke, heart disease, and diseases of the blood vessels as well as pulmonary and respiratory diseases. In addition, second hand smoking is said to be the greatest cause of cancer to people around smokers. Many people spend a substantial amount of money on cigarette costs and hospital bills. Here in Middle Tennessee State University Campus, students are here to study and not to visit hospitals due to problems caused by smoking. In addition, if smoking in banned in the campus, students will be able to concentrate in their studies because, they will not be getting out of class after a craving to smoke as well as going or medical check ups and treatments of health issues related to smoking.
