Why Is The American Industrial Revolution Important In The 1800s

The American Industrial Revolution was something very important in the 1800s for America. The American Industry was truly born the first 30 years of the 1800. In this time many people invented many helpful inventions such as the railroad, steam engine, factories, powered ships, sawmills, and etcetera. Samuel Slater built the first American factory. Oliver Evans created the first steam engine, which came in handy in many of the inventions that were made in this time period.

Railways and canals also played a big role, because they helped transport people and cargo west (ushistory). The first canal completed was the Santee Canal in 1800, connecting Charleston with Columbia. The next canal was the Erie Canal, which began in about 1804 but construction started 1816. The Transcontinental Railroad was also built in these times mainly. In 1850 there was a federal land grant for a railroad from Illinois to Alabama, but the Transcontinental Railroad was blocked by route partisans until the Civil War. The new industrialization was something very expensive. Out of the necessity of money corporations were born. Corporations could accumulate capital from as many investors as were interested in them. Most of the investing could be celebrated by the success of the company either by stocks or stakes. The limit to how much the investors could earn was not limited, although they had “Limited Liability” which meant they were responsible for the corporation debts to extend their investments. The demand for work was satisfied, because of all the immigrants that came in that needed jobs. There was also a great number of resistance due to great amount of immigrants that moved to America at this time. Political parties started making the right of immigrants. This lead to big changes in America.
