Although many argue that the Constitution is outdated and should be updated to modern society, the Constitution is still is a ‘living document’ that is still applicable to today’s issues. The Constitution is over two hundred years old and many people think it is in need of a change, why change something when there's nothing wrong with it. It’s worked for this long and why should it stop now. Our founding fathers wrote the Constitution in a way where in the future our natural, constitutional rights will still be enacted. If it would be changed it would slowly take away our freedoms. The founding fathers didn’t want a corrupt government similar to their King back in England. Giving the chance for the government to alter the Constitution would result in the opposite of what the founding fathers wanted, a corrupt government with more power than the people. The second amendment from the Constitution gives the right of the people to bear arms and protect themselves. Although guns were very different back then, it doesn’t change the fact that the people should be able to protect themselves with weapons. Government shouldn’t be able to take away our freedoms, and the right to bear arms is one of those freedoms we have.
