Calvin Coolidge was president of the United States from 1923 to 1929. Calvin was born on July 4, 1872 in Plymouth Notch, Vermont. John, his father, was a farmer who worked in the Vermont House of Representatives and the state and with other local offices. He helped his father sell apples and doing chores around the store and at the farm. His mother, Victoria, died when was was twelve and his sister Abigail died several years later.
Thomas Jefferson was America's strongest president. Jefferson has earned this title through his various achievements as an average citizen, and as our president. Jefferson also had a lot of experience in politics before becoming the president, which gave him a large advantage over other presidents on this list. From writing the declaration of independance, to starting Lewis and Clark's expedition, Jefferson was an all around influential, and strong president. Jefferson served the United States for over 50 years!
Prior to losing the election of 1912, he helped the U.S with by doing anything he could to uphold America and its citizens. He also aided in American access to the Panama Canal. On economical terms, Roosevelt was the trust-buster, breaking all of the bad trusts in big businesses. He also was the president who enforced the Sherman Antitrust Act. Socially, he preserved millions of acres of land, entitling citizens to interact and have leisure time, and wildlife to prosper.
Out of all forty four Presidents that have served the nation and its needs, there is one President that has served as an outstanding leader. Rutherford B. Hayes was one of the most influential Republican presidents during the 1800s. He was the 19th president of the United States, and he served during one of the toughest but greatest terms during his election. He battled through rebuilding the nation and making peace between the Democrats and Republicans. Hayes experienced the Civil War which gave him the right to appoint issues for the Americans.

Most people agree that a president should be a good leader, with strong beliefs, with the will to stay strong in what you think, and to do what you say you will, Grover Cleveland unlike some presidents did these things. Furthermore Grover Cleveland met most of these standards which is way he was a good president. Grover Cleveland was a democrat who, was president in 1885-1889, and 1893-1897. Thoreau and Steinbeck’s Ideals for Government Since the beginning of early societies, people have evaluated the written rights in which the government provides its people, and the unwritten rules that keep many from living freely. Henry David Thoreau, in his essay, “Civil Disobedience”, discusses the importance of protecting one’s rights and using those rights to protest the government for its discrepancies. John Steinbeck, in his novel, Grapes of Wrath, presents a similar argument in Chapter 17, through the story of a community of families with a set system of governing.
In my opinion, Andrew Jackson was a good president because he was one of the most successful and interesting presidents. The Common Man always held special place in America, but with Jackson, he rose to the top of the American political power system. In the campaign of 1828, Jackson, know as “Old Hickory,” triumphed over the aristocratic, reclusive and unpopular incumbent President John Quincy Adams. Andrew Jackson was also the only President of the United States to pay off the national debt on January 8, 1835. Jackson’s strong personality and controversial way incited the development of an opposition party, the Whigs.
The “Gilded Age”, a.k.a the Post Civil War Progressive Era, was the name given by Mark Twain in the period 1865-1896 which indicated the wealth and the widespread corruption of the era. The “Gilded Age” witnessed new cultural and intellectual movements as well as political debates over ecomonic and social policies from five different forgettable presidents. The president of the “Gilded Age” who serves as the best, in my opinion, was Grover Cleveland. Although this is very opinionated, I say this because Cleveland was the first democratic president since Buchanan whom despite political gain, served two inconsecutive terms which shows that he is trustworthy and he is a leader. He appealed to middle class voters of both parties as someone who would fight corruption and big-money interests.
These things might seem small all together but, think about it. If President William Howard Taft had not empowered the the Interstate Commerce Commission, people would be shipping and handing out illegal objects, weapons, and substances around the United States of America. If he had not been so supportive of the Sherman Antitrust Act and enforced it so well, people would be making trust to their own advantages. Finally If President Taft Had not enforced Federal Income Tax the United States would not be like they are today. Most of America’s schools, hospitals, and more important places depend on government funds to keep on rolling.
The best president was Theodore Roosevelt. The four qualifications that justify this are: military experience, effective communication skills, large support for environmental conservation, and his ability to accomplish major goals and legislation from the beginning to the end of his presidency. Roosevelt was not a perfect president, but for being the youngest president at the time, he served in many political and military positions that made him a brilliant leader and one of the best U.S. presidents. A president who has former military experience provides valuable insight to strategy and diplomacy.
In America we have had many presidents, they have done their job to get America this far. I would have to say that president Ronald Reagan would be my choice in who I think was the best President. I know I wasn 't alive when he was president but if I could I would like to live that time period. President Ronald Reagan was the 40th president. When president Reagan was elected on November 4, 1980 he was the oldest man ever elected at the age of 69.
Over hundreds of years America has had many presidents, some able to complete the tasks at hand, but many were not worthy of leading this nation. President Abraham Lincoln was one of the few who led the United States of America with great strength and courage. Abraham Lincoln was the best U.S. president because he had a great impact on ending slavery and he was one of the greatest natural strategists and leaders of all time. Abraham Lincoln is considered to be America 's wisest president. Abraham Lincoln, "proved to be a shrewd military strategist and a savvy leader during what became the costliest conflict ever fought on American soil."
The greatest president that has ever served the United States is George Washington. He was not only the first president of the United States but also the commander in chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He was victorious over the British and quickly became a hero doing so. He helped draft the constitution and with his leadership and courage. As first president, he become a role model for every other present succeeding him and helped create our countries values that we cherish so much today.
