World War One Paper The Great War was one of the most bloodiest conflicts in history. Of out the four M.A.I.N reasons, militarism was the main element that contributed to the upsurge of the first World War. Factors of militarism that led to the outbreak in World War 1 were new technology advancements in land, air and naval warfare. First and foremost, land warfare would drastically change forever due to World War 1. One major advancement during 1870 was machine guns.
