Is Christopher Columbus a hero or villain? That's a question that verias people are debating,I strongly believe he was warrior,he was widely known as an explorer and for surviving the vile winds of the atlantic ocean. Daring to succeed to accomplish his four voyages and opening new trade routes. A hero is someone who is brave, smart, and courageous and has also accomplished something heroic that was influential in some way. My hero is Kobe Bryant who committed to helping many of the world's problems such as when he donated money to the Make A Wish Foundation in order to help sick kids with harmful diseases or when he made an impact on the After-school All-Star program. Kobe Bryant was a hero because he helped sick kids in need by granting 250 wishes to the Make A Wish Foundation and made an effort contributing to the After-School All-star program which provided new opportunities for more than 90,000 kids. Kobe Bryant was an american professional basketball player that was well known for his 5 NBA championships and overall one of the best basketball
To many, Christopher Columbus was a very remarkable man of history. His many discoveries and conquests, despite all the hardships faced, have led others to believe that he is some sort of hero. But is that really what he is? A hero? In A people’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn, he states, “To emphasize the heroism of Columbus and his successors as navigators and discoverers, and to deemphasize their genocide, is not a technical necessity, but an ideological choice”.

If I asked you who was an american hero, who would be the first person you think of? I would automatically think of Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson is not only an american hero but also a hero for all of sports. His courage, wanting to be the first african american to play baseball, fighting for equality, and fighting for his country are all reasons he should be considered a hero.
In 1988 Patrick Modiano came across an ad in the newspaper "Missing, a young girl, Dora Bruder, age 15, height 1 m 55, oval-shaped face, gray-brown eyes, gray sports jacket, maroon pullover, navy blue skirt and hat, brown gym shoes." (Modiano 3). The ad was put in the paper by Dora’s parents after she had ran away from her private boarding school; that her parents sent her off to. Modiano chose to follow Dora Bruder from place to place for several different reasons. One main reason is because he wanted to answer the question on why she would want to run from the people helping her hide.
Columbus Revisited- Hero or Zero? Columbus Day is observed all over America on October 12th every year, celebrating Christopher Columbus and his discoveries, most notably that of America. Someone who is courageous, intelligent and has reached a significant achievement is called a hero. A man named Andrew Carnegie, born in Scotland in 1835, does not fit this definition of hero. Carnegie started off as a poor man who developed into a very successful businessman. He had intelligent business skills, including vertical integration which made him a rich man. However, his success does not define him as a hero.
Anyone can be a hero. For instance, Robert Bentz was being selfless when he put himself between a driver of a stolen car and Bentz’ son. “In the split second of seeing the car coming straight at [his son] Roudy, Bentz cranked his steering wheel as hard as possible. That put him between the oncoming car and his son.” Though Bentz is a normal person, he was still able to save his son from injury.

Individuals tend to think of a “hero” as a kind person, someone who saves the entire population from a dreadful misery. Hernan Cortes, a Spanish soldier and conquistador, is a hero (in the minds of some) for acting courageously and enhancing Spain’s economy with the gold taken from the Aztecs. But as glorious as he may seem, he also killed many Mexican Natives and Aztecs and caused many unnecessary battles and disruptions for them. Aside from disease, Cortes also majorly disrupted the Aztec culture and religion by converting many to Catholicism. Depending on what facts were taken into consideration throughout his life, he could be seen as a hero, or a villain.
