NFL Players Choose to Protest During the National Anthem America. The land of the free and the home of the brave right? Well, some people including many NFL players would argue otherwise. Countless peaceful protests have broken out throughout the country and many people are shocked at what NFL players are doing to demonstrate how they feel about racism and brutality against African American people. Players are taking a knee or linking arms during the country’s national anthem. They think that these peaceful protests will make people and the government change their ways on how they treat citizens of a different race. One example of outrage caused by these events are the comments President Trump made when addressing how he feels about the issue. Trump says, 'Get that son of a b**** off the field right now. Out! He's fired" (link). Based on this, it can be concluded that protesting in this way does not belong on the football field. Some players say that the President’s words did not help the situation and they are causing more protests. But Trump was just showing that it is not right to disrespect the flag. It splits the country into groups, one that agrees with what the players are doing, and one with people who are against it. Obviously the leader of this country does not agree with what the players are doing; many fans also disagree with this dispute. “52-43 percent, that voters did not approve of the players’ actions” (link) . The most logical conclusion that can be drawn from this information is that the NFL should make sure players are not protesting in this way because citizens find it very disrespectful. Over half of the country feels that the actions taken by the players are not right and should not be happening. Many fans feel that disrespecting the flag of the country that gave these players an opportunity to earn millions of dollars playing is rude.
