When acquiring a college degree you benefit greatly. The pay you get at any job will be raised if you have worked for a college degree, some jobs won’t even look at your resume if you don’t have a degree. Many people chose not to go to college, but roughly about 1/3 of high school students continue their education at college. Overall you get a higher job satisfaction if you have snagged a college degree. I would much rather be looked up to, rather than looking up to someone who has continued their education.
Having the opportunity to continue my education on the graduate level would be an honor. Earning my Bachelors in Women and Gender Studies with a minor in Africana Studies, I have paved a foundation for myself to continue improving and enriching my community by advocating for laws and policy that affect everyone, but most importantly impact my community. The Value of a College Degree Having a college degree is arguably one of the most important things you can achieve in your lifetime. In today’s society, it is getting much more difficult to survive without one. Most places of business that offer substantial wages and benefits require some sort of college degree. This is a problem for most people in the United States due to the fact that only 17% of the U.S. population has earned a college degree (Odland).
69% say it was very useful in helping them grow and mature as a person. 55% say it was very useful in helping them prepare for a job or career. While Americans value college, they value character even more. Asked what it takes for a young person to succeed in the world, 61% say a good work ethic is extremely important and 57% say the same about knowing how to get along with people. Just 42% say the same about a college education.
The only way to achieve a successful life is going to college and becoming educated. Post-secondary is a big decision most teenagers have to make .The importance of having a college degree could cost you a job. Most people overlook the difference in the amount of pay with having a college degree. Even though debt is the main reasons people steer away from college it can be paid off easily.
School and being involved in the community is something I feel like everyone needs. These two things help people to become more open to bigger opportunities. I feel as if you should start young in community activities, such as girl scouts or being involved with soup kitchens. School is not well-liked by everyone, but it is something that everyone should have on their record. People who do not complete high school should at least try to accomplish their GED.
Many jobs require the knowledge and the training that a college can provide; if you want to go into a medical profession, you would have to learn about the medical technologies and the language to become at least become an intern, then become a doctor. With a degree, many opportunities become much more accessible than if you just had a high school diploma. Getting an education is much more valuable for your future than going straight into the workforce. Peter Thiel, a co-founder of paypal, offered “24 winners of this Thiel fellowship $100,000 not to attend college for two years and to develop business ideas instead. ”(Source E).
Education is a goal of mine in which I can remember in grade school. I have always wanted to be the best that I can, and strived for the best. My social location is a being factor, because what I needed from high school had to be learned in college. My social location of where I am from was not educating me on all of the credentials needed for college, and so I had applied myself more. I do have a part-time job in which aids in financially supporting my personal needs, because my tuition is being paid in full as long as I maintain my grade point average.
For example, my mom, Jeanne Medine, graduated from Louisiana State University in education because she always wanted to educate the younger generation. She was a teacher for 8 years and later went back to college to receive her masters, plus 30 more hours. As a result of her continuing education, she is currently the principal of Iberville Elementary Montessori Program. For example, if my mom had not gone to college her opportunities for working directly with children in a school system would have been limited to working as a paraprofessional. There would have been no opportunities for advancement and the pay would have been minimal making it difficult to live comfortably or support a family.
I will use not only this degree, but the knowledge that I have obtained from pursuing it, throughout the rest of my life. I believe that post-secondary education is crucial, because it builds off of the basis of knowledge received in high school. In this day and age, employers in nearly every field expect some type of degree, in addition to a high school diploma. Simple hard work and willingness to learn isn 't enough to secure a position in the Business Administration field that I would like to go into.
What is important to me is being able to make an impact. It is important to me because I do not want to live a life and leave nothing significant behind it. I want to make the most out of my life and help people. To accomplish what is important to me, I do a lot of volunteering. I have volunteered for local elementary schools, at the soup kitchen, and for community events.
To better myself will help my future for not just me, but my family as well. I want to have a degree in something that I love doing. I do not want to have just a job. I want to have a career.
Why is college very important for a successful career? How can you get the best job opportunities? Do you want to earn high income and better benefits for job? All these questions reading potential reasons to go to college is huge investment, national and international prestige. A higher education degree is perceived as extremely necessary to get a better job.
My motivation My son motivates me the most to pursue my college degree. I 'm his first teacher and I want to show him in order to be successful In his life he will have to work hard for what he wants. I want my son to see first hand that getting a college degree is obtainable for everyone.
