Imagine if you were in prison because of something little you did and you got a long , unnecessary sentence or as you were in prison got abused . Even though some may say that prison industrial complex is fair because they get what they deserve; overall , there are many social injustices such as abuse against prisoners, and unfair sentences and sexual assault . An example of why prison industrial is unfair is because abuse against prisoner . In the text of , ‘ What We Know About Violence In America’s trial complex is unfair is because , of abuse on prisoners’ , It says “ 19% of all male inmates in US prisons say they’ve been physically assaulted by other inmates (gilson) ”. This quote shows how many prisoners are being given harsh sentences because of drug charges instead , of being given hard sentences because of violence. This connects back to the claim of the prison industrial complex being unfair because, they are not treating people fairly by giving them harsh sentences. Another example of this is when it says “ As of last year, according to a report released today by the American Civil Liberties Union, more than 3,200 people were serving life in prison without parole for nonviolent crimes (HARKINSON) ” . This quote shows that many people are getting bad consequences for light stuff. This connects back to the claim because , this is unfair , people are getting sentences as if they committed murders and other violent charges.
