Why Should Cults Be Considered Freedom Of Religion

People seesaw cults as a better form of practicing religion. Inevitably, these cults became socially known as groups with unlawful practices. The widespread of falsified theology within cults has led to many controversial topics on whether or not cults should be considered freedom of religion. Given the personal benefits of cult religion, should cults be considered freedom of religion? Cults should not be considered freedom of religion due to the secrecy, false perceptions, and violence that has surfaced since the formation of cults.

Unfortunately, this level of secrecy leads to false accusations and practices which still give cults a bad reputation to this very day. Cults cut almost all chances for its members to interact freely with people outside the group. Members of the group are being cut off from society which takes away from their freedom and overall natural resources. Cults degrade those who do not share the group’s beliefs and spread fear/mistrust upon other members in the group (Hirschfield). This act against humanity compels members to promote their propagandist beliefs and are not allowed to express their own opinions with other people among the group. On the other hand, many people actually enjoy cults and see them as an easier way of expressing their religion and practices. Cults offer alternatives to traditional religions that some people may find more meaningful. These people are able to express and practice their religions more freely without having to worry about what others think. However , these alternatives are not as sufficient and are often made up by the leader who uses false assertions. People also believe that they should join a cult to be able to serve God on a more spiritual level and live a more meaningful life. These members gain a
