In a university setting people are often asked a few things when giving introductions. Name, age, major, and one interesting fact. Often, sociology majors do not get the same reactions as those who are biomedical engineering. But why is that? People assume that sociologists just look at social problems. On the contrary, sociologists study a wide variety of things such as the environment, crime, theories, and much more. According to Steele and Breese, "Sociology is a discipline of study, which focuses on human group life, communities, and societies." (2009: 1).
